Jesus was a baby too

When Mary was very young, she was visited by an angel. Not too many people are visited by angels so Mary is quite surprised. The angel says she is having a baby, because God wants her too. He thinks she is really special. Mary is getting married to a man called Joseph, he is very kind and says he will look after her and the baby.

One day Mary and Joseph have to make a long journey, and when they get there, they find there is nowhere for them to stay. A kind man gives them the best place he has, but it is out in a stable with the animals. Mary and Joseph don’t mind and they settle down for the night. During the night, Mary has her baby and they call him Jesus.

Jesus is a special baby. He is visited by kings who bring him presents. But not normal presents, they bring Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Some shepherds also come to see the special baby, they have seen angels too and the angels told them where to come. Jesus is going to do some very good things in his life, but first we must leave him to drink his milk.

John tells everyone about Jesus

John is Jesus’ cousin. He has been living in the desert, He wears scratchy clothes and eats grasshoppers with honey. But this makes him feel good. He has been telling everyone about a special man who is going to change things and make them better. When he sees Jesus he knows he is the man he’s been waiting for and this makes him very happy. Jesus goes with him into the river and asked him to wet his head and to say a special blessing over him.

John doesn’t think he is important enough, but he says a blessing over Jesus. Suddenly a dove comes down from the sky, it is sent by God. God tells everyone there that Jesus is his son and he is very pleased with him so far.

Lots of people want to have the blessing that John gives because it shows them that they are special to God too.

Jesus makes a little girl feel better

There is a little girl, and she feels very sick. This little girl is so sick that her parents think that she has died. Her daddy is so unhappy that he runs to Jesus to ask if he can do anything for her. Jesus comes at once to see her and goes into her room. Her mummy and daddy are there watching.

Jesus says, “I think your little girl is only sleeping, she is all right.” Jesus shakes her shoulder and the little girl wakes up. Her mummy and daddy are so pleased that they don’t want to stop hugging her. Jesus did a good thing.

A little boy helps Jesus make some food

There are lots of people listening to Jesus talk, but they are very hungry and there is no food. Jesus wants to know if anyone has any food and a little boy gives him his five loves of bread and two fishes from his mummy. Jesus says thank you to God for food to eat, and as if by magic there is enough to feed everyone. So everybody has something to eat and they are happy. There is also a lot left over to keep for later and they fill twelve baskets full of food.

Jesus loves little children

When Jesus was talking to some people one day, some children wanted to say hello to him. Jesus’ friends didn’t like this idea and told them to go away. Jesus wasn’t very pleased with this and told them off.

He said“Leave them alone, because I love little children, let them come and give me hug.” So the children ran to give Jesus a hug, and it felt really good inside. So they were happy and smiled a big smile and waved goodbye to Jesus. Jesus said to the grown ups, “You have to love like that if you want to be God’s special friend.” So the grown ups learnt
